Hi, an old topic I know but I thought that you might like to see my seat covers that I recently made.
As the whole vehicle is heavily patinated and worn I wanted them to look weathered so I bought an old canvas tent at a military vehicle show for about £20 ($30 ?).
The canvas was weather beaten but there was lots of it. Certainly enough for a windshield cover if I want to make one.
I replaced the very worn cushions with new ones, 4" firm foam for the base and 3"medium for the back.
I made new seat bases from plywood as the old metal ones were rusty beyond reasonable repair.
A few hours on the sewing machine (I know, but if you can swing a spanner you can use a sewing machine) and hey presto I have new old looking seats.
It was surprisingly easy to get a reasonable result and I used the original screws to secure the back cushion as per the original.
Its definitely a cheap option if anyone out there needs some cushions but can't at this point afford an original replacement and I think looks right with the worn look of the car.
