1959 3b, stock, 72000 miles.
Hoping that I can get some thoughts on a problem that cropped up on a drive today. All went well (about 45 minutes) until the engine started to stumble on uphill inclines. I initially thought it was out of gas (calibrating the gauge is another question) and had to pull over. It would start but on release of the clutch it would stumble and stall. It was almost exactly like the time I installed a carb rebuild kit that had a too small jet and metering rod - started easily but then would stumble and stall with a load and applying the gas trying to move in 1st gear. We got 3 gal. of gas and it started up with some difficulty and I still had a difficult time getting up the hill. First gear only and a lot of clutch when it started to buck. Once I hit level ground it ran fine. Close to home I was on a long incline and it started again. I only made it up the hill by running a little above idle and then once level, it ran OK.
The problem seems to be fuel related but I am puzzled as to why it will run fine on level ground but not on uphill inclines, and also why it ran fine earlier up hills but later started to stumble. It seems to immediate to be dirt or a sticky float in the carburetor
