Positive or Negative Ground?

I took my Starter and Generator, 1953 CJ3A, to a local guy for rebuild and he asked me if it is Positive or Negative grounded.  I assume it is negative grounded like other cars, but I can't find any definitive information on that.  I have found many posts on other sites where they say their's is positive ground.  Can any of you clear this up for me.  I am looking to make it original.

Battery (-) post, does the cable connected to it attach to the frame? Yes, then it's a negative ground.

ok, so this is the original gdz6001 generator.  When I dragged this jeep out of the field, there was no battery or cables.  I am restoring it to original stock condition.  Does anyone know if it was originally negative grounded or positive grounded?

Do you have any documentation for your vehicle in your library:  Service Manual (SM), Parts Manual (PM)?

Having required reference material will greatly help you weed through the, "many posts on other sites," so that you may know what is correct.

I have hard copies of SM and PM but if you're comfortable with internet searching, Google is your friend.  This search was simply, "CJ3A Wiring Diagram."

The book, The Civilian Jeep Model CJ-3A, by Bob W. has a copy of the CJ-3A wiring diagram in it too (p.23, illust. 3.04) clearly labeling, "Ground Negative Cable," that matches #8 of the wiring diagram in the link I provided.
