Well, it's about time to start getting plans made so here I go! I'm going to ask the members for some help.
First, the date. My first thought was to go on (deleted incorrect dates). My second choice would be a week later, July 13, 14, and 15. Anybody having any preferences or conflicts, please let me know. I know we can't please everybody, but we'll try.
Next, the location. We've had a good campsite for several years, and good roads/trails, but I've about given up on the Forest Service getting their gates open when they say they will, and we've seen most of the un-gated roads in that area. Myself, I never tire of those roads, I've been traveling them for a lot of years. But I'm thinking of moving the event South a little bit, probably into the Red-Feather Lakes / Deadman Road area. I haven't spent a lot of time in that area, and would welcome some input from any member who knows it well. I'm studying maps, looking at trails, and trying to remember where good campsites may be. I'd love to go on a scout, but it's early yet, and I probably wouldn't get far past Red Feather.
Several people have mentioned, at various times, the possibility of an "outpost" camp, where we spend Saturday night at a remote site away from our "basecamp", taking with us only the gear that we can haul in the jeeps, and trailers. We did try this a couple of years ago, and had a great trip, but the skeeters drove us back to our basecamp. (Skeeters up there carried off two of my Boy Scouts one time - they were hiding in their tent, and the skeeters were sticking their stingers thru the canvas trying to get to them. The boys were using their knife handles as clubs, bending the stingers over. Soon there were so many skeeters clinch-nailed to the tent, they flew away with it!) They're not always that bad. I'd like coments on the "outpost" idea.
Instead of the Rock Soup this year, I'd like to do a kind of a pot-luck dinner, where everyone offers up a dish that they have made in camp. Comments? Maybe a similar thing could be done with Sunday's breakfast.
Well, I guess that's enough for now, I just want you all to know that the Northern Colorado Mountain Run will happen again this year (is this the sixth?) and we WILL have a good time! BW

Hey Tom, please tell me where your house is, and how things really look to you from there. I'm still planning to go with the run, but I need to get up there and see how things look in the chosen area. Work and the FS are making it extremely difficult. Your input could be a big help.
If either of you guys could carry info on this run over to the 3A page, I would really appreciate it. I've not been there for a long time and last time I tried to log in, I couldn't get in. Right now, I barely can find time to check in here from time to time. We'll slow down in a couple of weeks. I also could use some help in getting the word out to the CJ3B Page as well as any other sites where anyone might be interested. Thanx Much. BW
The Colorado trails are definitely a Bucket list event , especially for those of us who are not blessed with nearby Jeep trails. I am trying to get Bruce re- signed up over here so he can alswer questions if needed but he is pretty busy right now and doesn't get too much online time.
