Disc brake swap in a 3A Dana 44

Hey all,

Got an offset D44 that I would like to throw some discs on. Been searching the internet and have seen a few things here and there but nothing too solid.

Looking for the cheapest way to go about it, don't care about a parking brake.

I know of a company called Ruffstuff that makes a universal weld-on caliper mount. And I'm sure I could get away with some '73-'87 1/2 Chevy calipers and pads.

Curious on the rotors and studs though and how/ what those would actually attach to.

I'm used to converting full float axles and staking the rotor to the hub with the wheel studs. I've never converted a c-clip axle to disc brakes before.

I think the front Chevrolet calipers on the rear would be way too much braking force on the rear of a CJ-3A.

Do a google search for "CJ3A DIsc Brake GEO TRACKER". There's a guy that sells the brackets cheap. He also writes on some facebook sites. I don't remember his name but I think he's in Colorado. The conversion bolts on and uses 1994 GEO Tracker calipers and rotors.

A Dana 44 is not a "C Clip Axel"...... Why is it Colorado Jeepers are not concerned with a parking brake! ?, LOL

Hate to sound like a DA, although I will admit to occasional lapses... what is a C-clip axle?

The ones ya have to remove the back of the chunk to pull the little clips off the ends of the axle shafts to remove.

C-clip axles are not desirable for off road use because if the axle shaft breaks the entire axle will fall out. The Dana 35 is a C-clip axle.
