Calling All CJ3A Meyers Snow Plow Owners!
« on: October 11, 2016, 02:12:33 AM »
Hi all,
Well after being reunited with my CJ3A after 4 years, I'm trying to figure out how to attach the Meyers snow plow rig I picked up a few years back.  The frame supports seem to line up nicely with holes in the jeep's frame EXCEPT......  the rear attachment points are off by 1/2 inch.  This seems to be due to a flange/tab on the rear of the plow frame assembly bumping into the aft, front leaf spring mount.  I could cut off the rear 1/2 inch of that tab on the plow frame, but before I break out the cut-off wheel and make it fit I'd like to see what other CJ3A owners with plows have to say about their set-ups.  Pictures of your plow frame set-ups would be appreciated.  Mine is a Meyer ST-72 with the Electrolift Hydraulics.  First Photo is the front of the frame, second is overview of trouble spot in the rear, and third is a close-up with the front, aft leaf spring mount and the plow frame flange.  The plow frame is the shiny POR15 pieces of steel.

Thanks for the photos Lee.  Not sure what type you have there, but it is an interesting design that seems to transfer the force from the front of the frame to along nearly the whole length.

The Meyer Plow frame only connects to the front 1/4 of the Willys frame.  Still puzzled about the clearance on that aft connection point.

I'm still learning about this jeep. I just discovered in June it has an Willys MB engine, then today, I just noticed it has the motor mount adapter to allow the MB engine to attach to the CJ3A frame.  I guess that one of the fun things about old Willys - Always something to discover!

Ranger41, Don't know for sure but could your plow frame be from an early CJ-5? The frame dimensions were slightly different than a CJ-3A.

LeeC, Looks like a Fisher plow to me.

Bob,

Thanks for the thought regarding the CJ5.  I had not thought of that possibility.  I'll see what I can come up with on CJ5 frame dimensions  and Meyer Plows.

On my Myers plow the front mount brackets start on the inside of the front springs and do a zig zag above the spring, and bolt to the outside of the frame.
