I think the merger is okay.

As you can imagine, I am a member of both the 3a and 3b page, as the information is pretty much the same to me! I would certainly be for it.

Yeah Tim I'm also a bit late getting here myself.

Actually for some unknown reason this topic has just showed up on my screen for the very first time today.
Not sure why it did not upload several days ago ???

Anyway...
I suppose that I may have proposed this CJ3 merger idea.
It's been suggested and I'm blaming it on Bob W. :D

As many of you know I've been the sole moderator overlooking the interactive portion of the 3B Info (Page) for a long time
My idea for this merge has evolved from the fact that the 3B Bulletin Board (not the 3B Information site itself) is having server difficulties.
I have been a CJ3A forum member for several years now.
Why ? Simply because the CJ-3A and CJ-3B models happen to be my all time favorites.

My posts on this forum have been rather infrequent.
But lets face it, the CJ-3A Forum and at times the CJ-3B BB have have seen very limited usage as compared to the CJ-2A and ECJ5 forums.
My real hope here is to unify these dedicated forums and thereby increase CJ3 forum usage.
Unification will require some foremat change.
I personally expect that a simplified list of sub forums will ease the transition.
I hope the 3A Administrators will provide their input here.

I am willing to step aside or to engage in whatever capacity I am best able to promote a united CJ/DJ 3 forum.

Me and my opinions certainly are not the final word here.

Willys Overland / Willys Motors / Kaiser Jeep Corporation /  AMC Jeep Corporation were and yet remain as the sole authority.

Thanks to all herein and remember that your opinion matters !

I just read all the comments on the 3B page about this suggestion, and I just went through all the comments here.

The 2A site is quite active and strong from what I see, and both 3B and 3A sites are less so. The similarity of "CJ3" models makes it logical to combine and become stronger/more active. I feel a definite kinship with the 3B guys, so I think it would be great to see the boards combined.

Even if I am the administrator of the forum, I can not unilaterally decide to go ahead or not with the integration of people from 3B.
The website belongs to the members and it is up to them to decide.
As I can see, the active majority thinks it's a good idea.
I will talk with Derek to see how we can proceed. We already exchanged a lot of email and Tim is included in the discussion.

The first step I think would be to temporarily put the process of registering new members back in automatic mode.
We will promote the moderator of the 3B forum to be moderator here also.

Please note that even if we do our best, I'm afraid that some people will get upset to move here and learn how our forum is working.

Some people over the 3B forum are already complaining about the fact that we are not tapatalk apps compatible.
They also said that we are using an old software.
It's all true.

And some people from here might get upset by the change that we gonna do to accommodate the 3B people.

I hope that we will be able to find a solution to get most of people happy.

Shall the Willys spirit be with us!

Just remember that we can never make everyone happy. A huge advantage of this forum is that it belongs to all of us, so we can change it to suit the majority of the users.

There has been good feedback from our 3A members and the members of the 3B forum.  I don't think we're that far apart.  There are a couple legitimate concerns from the 3B group. The two that seem to float to the top happen to be the same two I have about our 3A Forum.

1. Too many categories and sub categories.   I think we can all come to a consensus on this.  Through emails and forum suggestions, we are already working on a reduction that would be easy to navigate, but still highlight some of our favorite categories we all seem to enjoy.

2. Not quite as 'friendly' as it should be when using smart phones.  And not 'find-able' when using top search engines like Google, Chrome, Edge, etc.  Some of these concerns might be addressed by updating the current software, but I'm not sure.  You can't fight the algorithms, but it seems like we used to be (the 3A Page) far more prominent in the search engine world than we are now.  This drop off seems to have occurred just over the last couple years.  I am not bright enough to solve these issues, so Pascal, Derek, OldTime and others will need to take the lead on this if we do decide to join forces.

I really do hope we can make this work.  If we do, someone needs to come up with a really cool forum topper that highlights all models.  I really like the topper at the 3B Forum.  Do we have an artist in the room? ;)

Would Y'all be open to me giving a commission to my favorite Jeep artist, Roberto Flores? I'll pay for it.

I like Roberto's work and think it would be a great topper!!

As usual I'm in for donations to this forum for things like this, upgrades, maintenance etc.

I'd like to see what Roberto would create.  The venture could be our gain.

So I'll throw this potential concern out there.
I suppose perhaps the revamped forum would be renamed ???
If so we need good suggestions for the title and that may become part of Roberto's proposed new artistic challenge.

athawk11.... I tried to message you but am unable to enter any member name into the recipient box.
Recipient box worked before but it is not working now ???
Maybe you can PM me ?
