Oil Pump
« on: June 06, 2016, 03:05:20 PM »
I've got the oil pump with the two gears in it and the relief valve on the cover.  The engine gasket kit I got from Walck's doesn't have the gasket for it included, and I don't see it on their website at all.  How do I get a new gasket?

(I mean the one that goes under the cover--I haven't checked what goes between the pump and the engine.)

Thanks,

-Paul

Try making your own. I have used paper from a paper bag for an Allis Chalmers engine. At least for the Allis Chalmers, you have to carefully select a correct thickness gasket in order to maintain correct gap between the gears and the cover in order to keep it from binding (gasket too thin) on the one hand, or, not being able to develop good pressure on the other (gasket too thick).  This specification is spelled out in the AC manual, not sure about the Willys manual!
Good luck!

I just looked at the Universal CJ manual, and indeed they want you to use a non-compressable material and carefully select a thickness to preserve a good rotor to cover gap.
