Mounting the Seats

It appears that the seats are only held at three locations, the two front legs and the rear inside foot.  Is there a bracket or support that fits on the wheel well?

Since my tub has no holes, what is a measurement from the side of the tub to the seat frame; or the front outside foot?  The driver's seat frame looks like it can only fit in one location because of the foot on the tunnel.  The passenger seat can move a couple of inches in or out.

On my 3A, the drivers seat also bolts through the rear wheel well.  Mine has a nut welded onto the seat frame and a bolt through the wheel well, but I can't remember if that is factory or not.  Part of me is thinking there should be a stud on the seat frame that fits through a hole in the wheel well with a nut to secure it.....

Like you, I had a repo tub and had to make numerous mods for it to work.  On the passenger seat, my support bracket on the wheel well is too far down and doesn't really support the seat.  I found this out after paint......even after putting the jeep together prior to paint.......twice.  I simply split a piece of radiator hose and fit it over the cross bare on the back of the seat than mess with moving the support bracket.

There are sooooo many little things that might be wrong with a repo tub you will miss a few no matter how careful you are in trial fits.  Your problem with the fuel sending wire made me cringe a little bit.  I had the exact same problem and didn't realize it until I installed my wire loom.  At that point, I had made so many little fixes on the repo tub I just cussed a few words and drilled a hole where there was supposed to be and forgot about it.

I had to move the seat rest pieces on the wheel well up on both sides of my repop tub.  I cant remember now if I drilled a hole for the drivers seat back there.  Its at the body shop getting paint now so I cant look and see.  I also had to heat and bend my front tubes of the seats to get the back to sit down properly.

Can someone provide a picture?  I am hesitant to drill through my seat frame as that will greatly weaken the frame.  I could understand a U-bolt but I cannot imagine that that was original.

Also, I could use a dimension on the passenger seat from the side bulkhead.  The driver's seat can only fit in one position but the passenger seat is a little looser.

Here is a photo showing the back of an original 3A driver side seat frame.� I plan to use a stud and nut.






This is a photo of a 2A tool box.� This is 4" to center from the side wall of the tub.� I measured my 3A and got 3-3/4" to center of bolt hole.� Both tubs have been reworked, but the tool box hole locations were not modified.� Quite honestly, I don't think the 1/4" difference will make much of a difference.

Tim .... Thanks.  I see that the hole is in the cross member verses the tube frame.
