"having to replace and set points gets old after a while"
I put my CJ3B together twenty years ago. I check the points setting about once a year, and have never replaced them yet.
My CJ2-A, same story, but only about 16 - 17 years have passed.
When I was a young mechanic, and vehicles got a tune-up every 10-12000 miles, we changed a LOT of points and condensers that were still good for a lot more miles.(I wish I had about a five-gallon bucket full of those condensers now!) How many of us put 12000 or more miles on our jeeps in a year?
Poor quality of points and condensers made today? Who's to say the electronic replacements are any better? MO BW
