Vitron Carburetor Needle Question

Looks like most carburetor rebuild kits have the newer vitron rubber tip needle. We had a problem on our Willys wagon with flooding until we removed the new vitron needle and replaced it with our used metal needle. Has anyone had any trouble with the vitron needle in the CJ3A rebuild kits? Also we heard there is a metal Briggs and Stratton needle that will work but we are unable to confirm or find a part number.

I have not messed with the W/O for years but will assume it uses nearly the same inlet valve as the YF.
Standard YF inlet orfice is .077" and I feel a person can get by with a larger inlet orfice if nothing smaller is available.
I suggest .090" as the absolute maximum inlet orfice diameter.

I definitely prefer the original spring loaded brass needles but a vitron tipped needle can be acceptable.
The biggest problem with aftermarket needle valves and seats is that some seats seem to be too long for the application. When the seat is too long or deep that causes the needle to interfere with float travel.
In other words some needles and seats can cause binding.

If you have an old original needle then you should consider repairing it.
Take a close look at it in direct sunlight under magnification.
The orfice seat and needle can often be lapped.
