L134 Engine ID
« on: September 23, 2015, 12:35:33 AM »
I have started cleaning all the goo off the engine today so I can start tearing it apart just to check if it is salvageable and discovered that the engine does have an M38 casting on the block and head. Block casting is 804 380 and head is 800376. Serial number is 4LR136591. Can you help me ID this engine? I'd like to see if I can find out where it came from.

thanks,

Really? Very interesting. I'm still going to attempt the engine revival process even though I suspect that it has been sitting with it's head off for a while.

Thanks,

As Ryan said it's a replacement engine. It would have been a short block made in approximately the late 1950s.

What are the numbers and letter cast in the block on the drivers side down low near the rear?
