I have NDT's on my Jeep and I can tell you for sure they are good in dry sand or wet sand, on the flat or on the hill. Why do you think the military used the NDT's.
I have drove through quick sand� and wet sand in streams but you can't stop, you have to keep plowing through. I guess if the sand is deep enough and loose from spring water you could get stuck.
One time I got stuck was crossing a sandy creek with running water but couldn't get up the steep bank. I had to winch the Jeep out of the stream. That was the fun part of it�
. Doing an easy cross is not as fun.
A place in SE Utah has a sand hill that is used to test climb ability and test it does. My used tires didn't make it up. The new NDT's made it up the hill.
