Hi All,
I've lurked here for years. I've posted a few times, but it's been years. I have a CJ3a with a solidly rusted/frozen motor. I bought a supposedly running L134 5 years ago, and now I'm just getting to it.
I would like to fire the "new" motor up on a stand, but I need to sort out the bits: It came with an oil filter, but it was not installed
This "new" engine has a copper line going to a fitting on the back driver side of the engine, low down, near the bellhousing. It seems like it should go to the top side of the oil filter housing. There is a rubber hydraulic line that is loose that goes into the timing cover. I believe this line would go into the bottom of the oil filter housing(?).
All the stuff I've searched online seems to indicate the "bypass" oil line comes from a fitting in the block near the fuel pump. Is this true in all cases? Is the fitting at the back from the same oil gallery? If I buy new oil lines should I just fit the "long" line to the port by the fuel pump?
(my original engine has no oil filter due to a HY/LO pump, so I can't compare, and neither engine has an oil pump bracket)
Any advice appreciated....thanks.
