Difference in L and F head blocks?

Hey guys,

Just doing a little keyboard wrenching tonight, and I was wondering if anyone could point out the real differences between an L and F head jeep block. Did the F head blocks still have the places for the old valves blocked off? I know they casted them without intake ports on the drivers' side. What other changes were made? Couldn't you just put an F head on an L engine?

If you could, it seems like more people would go for it so maybe it isn't possible...

Too many differences.
Pushrod guides for the intake valves in the head.
Manifolds
I don't know if the head bolts are in all the same places. Probably not.
Probably lots more I don't know about.

Hmm right I was thinking about the head bolts as well. Didn't think about the pushrod guides.

Head bolts are in the same places, I recommend studying the gaskets before installing one, LOL, I installed a F head gasket in an L many years ago by mistake, results are NO compression and lots of bad language ;D
