Here's another solution, you could just remove it.  I have wing nuts on mine and remove it for car shows, plates don't look right on a M38.

Hmm, well, maybe Ky requires a light on the plate too. Since I don't drive out of my county and when I go to other states riding trails I haven't had a problem with my setup. I also seldom drive at night on the highways.

Calvin has his plate in the original spot but he takes it off when he goes on trails.

Wing nuts or one of those magnets that dealers use on their plates...

I drove my Toyota around for I don't know how long with the license plate bulbs burned out....it's probably not a big enforcement priority...!

That bracket is really slick.... And the color scheme of the Colorado plate works well.....� �Now Kansas....?

I seem to recall that my model A ford had one rear light on a stem and there was a white lens on the lower side to illuminate the plate.  That was 1930.

I do like the special numbers on the old original 1949 plate I was able to find to register my Jeep with, so after bending it a couple of times, like Carl says, I do take it off on the rougher trails.
