Drive Shafts

I am trying to figure out if my drive shafts are OK with regard to the telescoping motion. How hard or easy should it be to move them in-and-out? If they are to stiff, does anyone have suggestions as to how to get them to function properly?

When I started on my jeep a friend suggested mineral spirits as a de-greaser...I got a five gallon bucket, two gallons of spirits, and a parts basket.

I soaked the drivelines in the mineral spirits, and worked them back and forth every now and then...and used a cheap paint brush to clean them..

Be careful if you do this as they will squirt the captured spirits as you work them.

Thanks. Good idea. Doing more reading I learned that what I am referring to are the slip joints.
