Light Switch operation
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:17:27 AM »
Before I dig around and redo everything I want to make sure I understand who the thing is supposed to work.
I've got a new walks wiring harness, set up for turn signals.  it's all installed and works.

On the actual light stitch, when I pull it one notch the parking lights come one, when I pull it the second notch the parking lights go off and the head lights come on.  I'm thinking I should have parking lights and headlights at the same time, but maybe they didn't use them that way back then.

Any thoughts

That is correct.

Shalka,
You have it wired correctly.  Park lights were originally off while headlights are on.

If you want the park light on with the headlights, just move your park lights wire to the taillight contact.  This will turn them on at the first light switch position, and leave them on when the switch is in the second postion.  At least that's how I think I did it...  It's been a while.

I just went through this exact issue two months ago when I wired mine up with one of Walck's harnesses.  I kept mine original (parking lights on first, then off with the headlights) just to be different.  Call Walck's and talk to Dan or Carl and they can tell you which wire to tap into to get both sets on at the same time.  (I think Tim is correct on the tail light contact, but I can't remember)
