Cooling System

hi everyone, my name is Davide and i live in Perth, Western Australia.
i have just been bitten with the Willy bug.
i am in the process of restoring my early 1950 CJ3A. �
i went to flush the cooling system but to my surprise no coolant was coming out of the drain * on the side of the engine block next to where the oil dipstick enters the block.
i ran a coolant flush 3 time and the colour went from red mud to a light brown colour however still no coolant through the drain *.
i am thinking there must be a blockage somewhere. i would rather not remove the head, and hopefully explore other avenues.
Any suggestions?

maybe try to unscrew the drain valve from the block. I think it is probable that the rust and dirt over the years has plugged the valve. You may be able to just clean it up and reuse it. If you happen to have removed the radiator you might also want to remove the water pump. Removing the pump will give good access to the water jacket for a good flushing. The water jacket in my '51 was so full of stuff that it had to be hot tanked twice and still there was crud to remove. Be careful with the water pump bolts, use penetrating oil and let it soak. The long bolt passes through the pump and is in contact with the coolant and may be thoroughly rusted...

After you pull the drain plug, try and stick a magnet the size of a pen or so in the hole and sometimes that will pull the rust debris out enough to get it flowing.....

As others have suggested, remove the drain valve from the block.  This may be enough to get it flowing.  If not, you could try a blast of air.  This may help get the crud flowing.
