Skid plate  ...and anchor?

My 49 C3 has this oddity....(besides the owner) Isnt the skid plate supposed to come further back and lower?

Any advice on how far back and how low?

Looks like it is bent up to me. Mine was the same and I took a bar and bent it down to just below the ebrake backing plate.

Z,

The placement is about right.  It doesn't extend under the hand brake drum.

I had to do what Mac describes also. The skid plates do take some abuse. �Better it than the tranny and TC.

Your skid plate attaches to a bolt on cross member. �It could also be pretty bent up. �I guess the transmission mount could be gone too.

Shoot a picture a little further back. �It might help us see what's happening.
