look like a 3A radiator? This was side mounted in a homemade fashion.

My PO listed this as 3A � � � � � Here is the grill. How high should it be compared to [2A]?
I'm wondering which Jeep model/year had radiator mounted with two studs sitting two tabs on tube crossmember?

Does this look 3A? � � � � � �What/where best book/manuals to buy?

My 49 3a has the bottom mount radiator.

I don't believe that's a CJ2 or 3 Jeep radiator. I also went to my CJ3 and CJ2 and the CJ3 doesn't have tabs on the cross member but the CJ2 does so I guess that's a CJ2 frame.

The radiator is not correct for a 3A.

The '49 3A will have the bottom mount radiator. (At least mine and Macs do) , so you will see the tabs on the crossmember if it's early 3A.  

There are no bumper gussets, and the front engine mount plate has the dog ear facing forward on the driver side, so the frame is 3A.

The grill is 3A.

The engine has ridges on the head, so it could be a 3A engine.  Do you have the serial # on the water pump boss?

From your photos, I say you have an early 3A with the wrong radiator.

I think water pump motor number is there. �What's interesting is that
I have a 3B in the garage that has those tabs with a bottom mount radiator.
From your comments and some on the 3B page, my 3B may be on an
"early 3A frame" or 2A frame?,is that possible. �more later � thx again

Well, I'm not as familiar with the 3B, but the primary difference was the high cowl and hood to accomodate the Hurricane engine.  I'm fairly sure the other important demensions are very similar between the 3A and 3B. Can the 3B tub be installed on a 3A chassis?  Almost surely.

By the way, nice looking 3B.

Yes, frame looks to be a '49 3A. Not all 49's come with the brass adaptor foot to go from a 3A frame to a 2A engine.

The 3As and 3Bs are the exact same jeep, only difference is the Fhead and the taller hood, cowl, and grille. Unless is it after 1954 where they went with the big single gauge cluster like in the CJ5's. Then it starts to be more like a CJ5. But the frames are identical except for the '49 3A because of the radiator tabs.

That's weird, the 3B body has tool indents on the passenger side. Me thinks it is an M606 then.
