8 leaf vs 10 leaf spring

Has there been any conversation about the difference in the 8 leaf or 10 leaf springs for the front of the willys, Mine now has the 10 but have to replace them, mine are flat and the shocks are bottomed out. any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I bought 8 leaf springs from KW and found them to be very stiff. I'm hopeing they will soften with use. Mac

I will go with 10 leaf if you plan to add a snow plow.

On the front 8 leaves are standard, 10 leaves are HD (such as for a snow plow, agriculture counter-weight, etc.).

On the rear 9 leaves are std and 11 leaves are HD.

If you don't plan to carry a lot of weight use the 8 leaf front and 9 leaf rear. If you do rough off roading it will let the axles move better on rough ground.

I too had 10 leaf springs on the front of my '51 one when I bought it.  The PO had used a snow plow on the front and there was ZERO give without it on there.  When I rebuilt my suspension, I put the standard 8 leaf springs back on.
