T-90 transmission Front out put shaft Question.
« on: October 18, 2012, 09:42:13 AM »
Ok, new question for the T-90...

I have every thing built and bolted up to the Engine, the body is not yet on the Jeep....( Pics of tub on jeep for fitting of body to frame only ).
before I mate the body to the frame, I want to put to bed any bugging questions, while the Body is not yet permanently on the frame for good.

My question, on the front of the T-90, the front Bearing and output shaft, retainer... is oil allowed to flow past the front bearing, between the retainer and the transmission its self?

I see there are one or two ports below shaft, looks like oil is allowed to flow back into case... if this is the case, what prevents oil from running out of trannsmission from the front shaft and all over the clutch?

The front of the tranny that goes into the clutch plate is called the input shaft and the casting that holds it in the tranny is the bearing retainer housing. The clutch throw out bearing rides on that casting. Inside the nose cone or bearing retainer housing there should be a felt washer with rubber on one side. This is what keeps oil from getting into the clutch assembly. I believe the rubber goes toward the housing and the felt toward the bearing.

Ok have the felt washer.....no ruber side!

How does that felt washer sit? Does it sit in the tube of the plate or next to bearing?

You put it on the input shaft against the bearing and then put the nose cone/bearing retainer on the tranny.
