Tires!

Saving our pennies for a set of those really cool military style tires the flat fenders are known for.  In the mean time we tossed on some 235/75/15 to get her on the road.  She came with a set of cracked up 700/15 bias plys.  With the radials we get some nasty tire shake at 40-45 MPH.

The old tires don't shake a bit?  Wish I could trust them, but I don't!  Had the radials balanced with no change?  A buddy at work says that the old shocks won't like the radial tires.  Anyone hear of this?

Yes, the NDT's look good on our Jeeps, at least I think so.

Dan,  I have radials and am very happy with them.  Good performance in any weather and at any speed.  No complaints.  Your friends comments re: shock compatibility doesn't make much sense.  These Willys are old but the physics of what is going on between the road and the suspension hasn't changed.  They came with bias tires as that is what they had at the time, but in my opinion, you can do better if looks aren't the driving factor.

I ran a matched set of radials on my for a few months before I restored it.  They performed perfectly.  During the restoration I installed all new steering components and overhauled the steering gear box and installed four new standard NAPA shocks.  After the restoration I installed a new set of NDCC military tires.  They have performed perfectly.   The point I'm making is that the radials performed perfectly even when everything was in a worn state.
