Hi fellows,

 If a CJ3A tub hasn�t got the firewall dataplate, are there any way to indetyify it?

There is no way to determine the serial number. A rough time frame can be determined from some of the body characteristics.

If your trying to title your Jeep and need a tag they can be bought on line. You may get an original on ebay and there is a person that makes a real good looking copy of the original.

The only problem I see is if you use a series of numbers that would be used on an original you may end up with the same vin number as someone else's Jeep. To be safe I would make a number with letters and numbers so as to not be confused with an original number.

CJ2A is different from a CJ3A.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my 3A tub doesn't have a number stamped on it...anywhere.  If it did, I cut it out with the rest of the rust.

You may be able to get close  with the axle date.  That is, if the axles are original to your Willys.  May not be very reliable though.  The axle could have been sitting in inventory for a while.
