Oil filter connection
« on: January 14, 2012, 03:21:56 PM »
I am installing a new filter to a replacement motor that never had a filter on it. I can't seem to find where the hose connects to the engine. From the few pics I can find online it seems there should be a connector just forward of the fuel pump? None of the pics I've found show the actual connection so I'm not sure if I am wrong about where it should go? What am I missing? This is for the outlet of the motor to the inlet (top) of the filter.

Ryan,
If you look real close just below the fuel pump you should see a 1/4 inch pipe plug in the block.  That is the connection you are looking for.  You have to screw in a 90 elbow. And the hose goes into that.  Make sure you take the hose with you to NAPA to get the 90, there are a couple options and it seems I always got the wrong one.  It might not hurt to take the fuel pump off to get the access you need to that spot.  The line will go between the front plate and the fuel pump when you install.

Ok that makes sense. I just checked and found the plug you mentioned. I didn't realize there was another elbow.  Thanks for the tip that NAPA might carry it too. That'll save time and hassle of ordering it.
