Shifting problem

Gents,
I had pulled the transmission on the 3A to put frost plugs in.  Reinstalled, now it shifts fine from R to 1 and from 1-3. but I can't get it into 2 from any position.  Did I not get the forks lined up when I put the tower back on?  I would have thought if second did not work reverse would not either.  Thoughts?

The 2-3 shift fork is probably on one side of the sliding sleeve and not in the groove.

Update, Here's one for team Willys.
In an earlier post I described a solution for a leaking transmission where the leak is coming from the shift tower barrels.  My leak was in the rear barrels of the shift tower, there were no plugs there and when looking at the front of the tower there are plugs.  I installed two cup style frost plugs to stop the leaks.  It seemed to work.

When driving my jeep after the repair it shifted fine, after a couple outings I could no longer get it into second gear.  Today I pulled the tower anticipating the forks had not been lined up correctly---Wrong.  The forks were fine, but the frost plug I had put in the Reverse/ Fisrt gear barrel had been pushed out - WOW. I removed the plug in the second/third gear barrel, and the area between the plug and the rod that holds the fork was solid with oil.  Oil had slipped past the rod and eventually filled that void creating a hydarulic block that would not allow shifting into second gear.

I measured both shift rods at.560 inches and both barrels in the tower at .562.  I guess I'm going to have to live with some leakage there unless you guys have any ideas.  There are plugs on the front of the tower, but they are reverse style plugs.

There's an old saying among mechanics, when a vehicle stops dripping oil it is about ready to self destruct. In the old days a leak was tolerated and many times to be expected. Today people are unwilling to accept a little leak here and there and that's where the trouble starts.

Three years ago when I installed my tranny just after overhaul, being so particular about leaks, etc., I was very troubled to see that there was some leakage past the rear barrels of the shifting tower.  I felt that there would probably soon be a big mess and even drips under my Jeep.  I monitored it for a while and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had believed it to be.  Now more than three years and three thousand miles since my restoration and my Jeep still does not drip.  Unless your problem is worse than mine I believe you'll be fine.

I think you guys confirmed my suspicions, having not grown up with a jeep my expectations may be a little unrealistic.  We're gonna let her drip for while.

Modern vehicles are sealed much better than our old Jeeps. If the oil on the concrete bothers you get some card board or a sheet of luan and put it under the leaks.

If you are really motivated just cut a small groove on the bottom shift rails to allow the oil to flow back into the transmission.

Good idea, Bob, I was looking at drilling a hole in the casting to allow that drain back, but it seems that the housing casting is in the way.  I might try that.
