Tailgate chains
« on: October 16, 2011, 08:48:11 PM »
I had a set of tailgate chains that were pretty rusty and spraypainted red. I was looking for a way to clean them up and came up with the following. I took an empty can of paint and filled it half full of sand, dropped in the chains and put it in the paint shaker at work for about 25 minutes. Worked like a charm! You could probably do a variation on this by jacking up your lawnmower and strapping the paint can to the rear tire to tumble it. This would probably work for alot of small parts.
On another subject, I was looking for some welting to put between the fender and the tub. I ended up using some roofing material called Ice and Water Dam. It's peel and stick on one side which makes installation easier.
