Dash throttle upgrade

I got sick of all of my other projects being too slow to work on, so I drummed this one up and completed it in an evening. Its a bracket to run the dash throttle without wearing on the carburetor. The part was cut from a scrap of stainless, and the the pivot is from the hardware store. There is a stop on the cable preventing the throttle from getting set above a high idle. That way nobody can yank on the thing and rev it to the moon.

Hmm, had not thought about that happening. I guess if a person let someone borrow the Jeep and didn't warn them that could happen. Since my throttle and choke are reversed in position on the dash it could easily happen with my Jeep.

I never have understood why the throttle cable was closest to the driver anyway. It's to easy to grab the closest know and pull it for a choke.

The longer arm cuts down on the angle of the cable so the end of it doesn't have a big bend. It works smoother on the throttle. Plus it adds leverage to the dash knob. I originally intended to add a very short piece just to keep the cable from wearing on the carburetor itself.

Lots of people drive the jeep, so I work in some margin of error if I can. Modern cars are just an appliance. You just get in them and take off. Jeeps just aren't that way and some people don't understand that even if you tell them explicitly.

Nice work Jesse.
I however as usual went the other way and installed the throttle cable from an M38.  Its a T handle with a locking ratchet.  I know it looks a little different but I sure like the way it works.

Whatever works. I thought about other stuff but I really only intend to hook this up in the winter. So I tried to come up with a decent solution without buying anything. Works pretty well at this time. In my mind a screw type control would be ideal, then you could really dial it in.
