I love how you have been working outside on your jeep, many days I would drag stuff outside to work on it. Just seems right, you know?

I also love Seasick Steve and Jack White. Two guys that know how to make a lot of noise. Maybe I'll come down to Texas to hang out and listen to tunes with ya, this U.P. winter sucks.

Got the transmission and TC cleaned up and back together, just need to clean up the TC pivot pin and get the shifters connected. ï¿½The E brake pads I purchased from Walck's fit great and are just about perfectly round, the E brake should work as it should now and with the adjusters all the way in, it should function for years to come provided I've got it sealed up well enough. ï¿½Along with the new gasket set, every bolt or mating surface received a fair share of thread locker/anti-sieze/RTV....but I'm liking this stuff less and less.

I haven't been able to do much lately, I'm having some issues with my prosthetic legs and my knee and back have been killing me. ï¿½But I did pick up a Koenig model 41 PTO and a Borg Warner overdrive from a 59' Willys truck. ï¿½I'm not going through the pain hacking up the crossmember to get the 41 to fit so I'm just looking to pass it on to someone with a wagon or truck that wants it. ï¿½The search for a 51 or 58 continues. ï¿½Also cruised some JYs while up in the big city and pulled a couple of parts for my 74' CJ5.

This 73' DJ was 100% complete. ï¿½It looked like it could have been driven out of the yard. ï¿½A 232 and full interior, They're not the most desirable jeeps but still a shame it'll be crushed. ï¿½I took the front springs, should've grabbed the wheels too for another set of rollers, guess I didn't because they were only 14" wheels.

And this, just bad, bad, bad!...looks like it was a YJ, I wouldn't wish this end even for the worst Tata truck in India.

Gentlemen,

I know you have all been waiting with bated breath for my updates, cautiously weighing you next moves on your own 3A until I show you the way....or you've been anxiously waiting for my next update to show your friends and say - "Hey look what this big dummie is doing now", which I don't mind at all. ï¿½By the way,,,gotta spawn a little self debasing humor on yourself or you'll never get through life intact.

Anyway, progress has been slow, I've had a back issue. The doctor said it was a bundle of pinched nerves. ï¿½I literally could hardly walk, but the doc gave me a couple of steroid and muscle relaxer shots and it seems to be working. ï¿½I should have some progress going soon. ï¿½

Also, my Pops is barely hanging on, the 6'0" man I once feared and respected is down to 120lbs and I'm worried. ï¿½The retired vet showed me how to catch fish throughout the entire US, all though the lower 48, to 40lb stripers behind Toledo Bend dam, to Speckled trout, Halibut, to 65 lb King Salmon when we lived in AK. ï¿½He could catch a 5b bass on a roadrunner in a 5 ft wide, 1" deep mud puddle in a road side rest stop in Mississippi. ï¿½He caught a fish every time he threw a line in, I can't explain it and can't replicate it, the man can just plain catch fish. ï¿½Best fisherman and best Little League Baseball Coach on the planet. ï¿½He and I coached my 3 little brother's teams for many years. ï¿½Not sure exactly how he was able to teach any 11 yr old how to pick off a runner at any base but he could. ï¿½Now, the old Infantryman is tucked up in the Temple VA hospital right now as mean and as cranky as ever, lately he's been cussing and angry and irritable as ever just like I've always known him so I guess that means the more cranky he gets actually means he's getting better. ï¿½I hope he does get better cause I'll sure miss the hard *rear end * if I have to go on without him. ï¿½He wasn't too thrilled about riding in my 74' CJ5, but I'm looking forward to torturing him on a ride in this 51' when I get running. ï¿½Anyway, your prayers are welcome...Thanks!

that postal have 11" drums you can get them off use the backing plate. to up grade to 11". you can only reuse the front of the postal. with dose backing plate can be use on front or rear of a cj. same bolt pattern.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, we brought the old man home today. ï¿½As a coming home gift, I procured a prize Buff Orpington for him. ï¿½He's the biggest rooster I've ever seen, at least 12-13 lbs, he's big as a turkey and mean as heck so he'll be a fine fit for Pop's disposition. ï¿½I've also spent the last couple of days building a deck and I'm building a couple more rooster pens. ï¿½Also, ï¿½I'm picking up two long tailed Phoenix Roosters for Pops (bred from Japanese Onagori), a red and a golden. ï¿½Haven't seen them yet but the breeder told me their tails are several feet long. ï¿½Since we've got a new roo, Pops also gave the order to dispatch our current "Security Force", but I don't think I can bear to do it, I'll delay that order as long as possible.

Okay, back to the Jeep, I also scored a Ramsey PTO off of CL to drive the the Koenig King winch I got from "The Durtch". ï¿½It was on what I believe was a 54' or 55' CJ5 way over in East Texas near Shreveport. ï¿½Even though some other PO had cut the front portion of the driveshaft, I feel lucky to get the PTO, as well as the bellhousing bracket and guide bearing. ï¿½Here's the PTO. ï¿½I'm in contact with Art Contoni, and when I get it cleaned up, I'll send him pics for his website. ï¿½Nice guy BTW!

Now also on the way over to get the PTO, I was cruising along at 70 mph and my Jeeper's Spidey senses started to tingle, then immediately off on a side road I spotted an MJ with a rare factory roll bar. ï¿½I stopped and chatted with the fellow for a while,,,,and to make a long story short, he gave me the MJ for free. ï¿½We both have special needs daughters and we sort of hit it off, then he also thanked me for my military service and told me to just take the MJ... I refuse anything for free, If I don't earn it I don't want it. ï¿½I don't want anything given to me. ï¿½So I insisted that I pay him something for it but he was adamant, and I eventually agreed to take it. ï¿½I went and got a Uhaul car dolly and came back and loaded it up...I did at least pay him a 6-pack of Guinness. ï¿½

The funny thing is, he said it had sat there for three years and no one had ever asked about it. ï¿½But 20 minutes before I pulled up, he said someone else had asked him about it and ironically, I knew the other guy, it was one of my good friends "Mike" from Comancheclub.com who lives in Palestine, TX. ï¿½This is where it gets funny.......

After I went and picked up the PTO, I got a text from Mike, saying, "Hey dude, I just found an MJ with a factory rollbar on Hwy 79". ï¿½

I replied, "yeah, is the this the blue one, 2wd, missing a tailgate, bad door hinges, runs decent, and has a roll bar"

Mike: ï¿½"yeah, you've been out this way?"

Me: ï¿½"yup, I talked to the guy, he just gave it to me"

Mike: ï¿½"what?"

Me: ï¿½"Yeah, he gave it to me"

Mike: ï¿½"You're kidding me, he told me 500 bones"

Me: ï¿½"Nope, he gave it to me"

Mike: ï¿½"No way!"

Me: ï¿½"Yeah, He gave it to me"

Mike: ï¿½"What the heck?"

Me: ï¿½"That's right loser, He gave it to me!!!!"

Mike: ï¿½"No way!"

Me: ï¿½"Yup, its mine. ï¿½Towing it home now! ï¿½What'dya think of that? ï¿½HAHAHAHA!"

Mike: ï¿½"You suck!"

Me: ï¿½"Ha Ha!"

Then in a completely uncalled for fashion, he sends me this..
Mike: ï¿½"You're a jerk!"

Me: ï¿½"Yup, he just up and gave it to me!"

Mike: ï¿½"You're a (@$& (@#*__$#"

Me: ï¿½"Yup, I sure am, but I've got a free MJ and you don't! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Me: ï¿½"Hey Mike, just got it to the house, check it out!!!!

Oh man, the people next door at the cabin are selling an MJ that is in MINT condition. The second I saw it I said "Damn, I want that thing big time"

Minor progress.

New Clutch...

Then I began to install all the engine components. ï¿½Still need to install the steering gear box and MC....my last two components to rebuild. ï¿½I started to do a test fit of my new Ramsey PTO but I'm getting stumped on the PTO shaft support bracket. I pulled it off an F Head early CJ5 so the block should be similar but I can't remember how the heck this bracket bolts up, none of the holes match my L Head.

Also need to cut off the remnants of my steering wheel and clean up my PTO for install.

Also, my fuel pump is a darn tight install, its resting against the engine plate but I believe it'll be leak proof after a bit of pry bar and BFH manipulation.
