3A tailgate on a CJ5

Before we started restoring our 49 3A it was our everyday plow truck, wood hauler, and general yard dog for trailer towing ect. We replaced the 3A with a 1979 CJ5. The problem is the CJ5 had no tailgate. This was solved with a sawzall and a welder. I copied the basic design of my 3A tailgate as it's very practical for what we use it for. With the gate in the down position you can stack an additional row of cord wood on top of it, and for towing trailers you can remove the gate to eyeball the ball and hitch. The CJ5 is not geared as low as the 3A but still works well. I'm sure in 20 years or so the next owner will be gripping about this "bubba mod" but it's definately an improvement for what we use it for.
