has anyone ever used brad penn oils (penn grade 1) the mechanic that works on my dads ford truck told me about it after i told him i bought a cj3a and said it has a very high zinc content and so on and so thats most likely what im going to feed my engine after doing a oil change and then eventually the gears in the tranny and transfer case and axles

Want to burn up a whole weekend reading stuff? Google "ZDDP Oil Comparison"
Here's a few:
http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?136304-What-oil-brands-offer-the-best-protection-
***Good-read***
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-tech-performance/2484100-list-of-flat-tappet-oils.html
https://www.enginebuildermag.com/2012/03/zddp-when-where-what-why-how/
I noticed the oil you are asking about is on the comparison list.

High zinc seems the way to go from what I have read as well.
Here is a link to the 3B page with some more nice reading on engine oils.
http://cj3b.info/Tech/OilWeight.html
The evolution of oil section is the one that caught my eye and came to mind when I read this post.

High zinc oil is great for flat tappet engines.
This is what I use.
It also minimizes moisture buildup in engines that sit more than run.

Here's an article about it:

John,
This is what I bought. I'm using AMSOIL to break in then the Classic Car oil for a few oil changes after that (for the same reasons).
I'd read on other forums that even Rotella was reducing ZDDP content to comply with mandate.

Yes
I've seen the lead content of some Rotellas slowly being reduced over the last few years.
