Crazy PTO gear reduction... thing
« on: November 04, 2015, 03:31:04 PM »
Hey boys,

Saw this weird contraption on craigslist today, wondering what your take on it is. I don't think it is a forward gear reduction like the listing says, I don't see any way that the pto turns the smaller gear. It looks more to me like the big gear turns the smaller one, which has a keyed shaft for a second rear PTO output.

Not really sure what it is!

Its a jeep thing, but you would understand if you have ever lost your wallet.

That is correct, part of the trencher drive. You can see mine mounted elsewhere on the 3a page. He is somewhat incorrect however in how it works. It is not directly driven by the PTO.  I have an original manual and parts schematic from Auburn some where in storage. Those books are even more rare than the drive. When I see it next time I will get it out and scan it for this site.
