And there is also Rick Stivers Guide which has been the gold standard of rebuild guides on the tranny for a while:

All excellent stuff.
And one other note on the tranny. If you can find a NORS USA made synchronizer assembly and as many other NOS parts as you can get to rebuild with...Ebay and Peter Debella seem to be the current sources..
And keep an eagle eye out for any leak possibilities, and seal as you go. Yes, even bolts need a sealer of some sort. More info in both guides.
Any more helpful tips for novice transmission rebuilders ?? I will make a separate post for the Transfer case...
