Fuel gauge question

Quick question. Will my jeep run with the fuel gauge unhooked and removed. I have
The wires capped off and have not tried to start it yet. I was unsure if I need to splice
The two wires together to complete a circuit or not.

Yea my fuel gauge was reading full a few weeks ago before the FCT and I ran out of gas at the end of my driveway. Now it just reads full allthe time, I ran it like that in Colorado last week.  Like scoutpilot said if wired correctly it will run without any gauges.

When I first put my jeep together I added fuel and watched the gauge..it seemed accurate enough...

But only when going up..going down not so much.

So after I ran out of gas, on Christmas day, I added a backup gauge.

It has never failed me....

HaHa, I keep my "back up" fuel gauge behind the seat. Jeeps are reliable, not the fuel gauge.

Update to fuel gauge issue not reading correctly.

So last night I decided to pull the gauge out from the dash - I think it was easier to pull the transmission - anyway I read somewhere that you could adjust the gauge with a small jewlers screwdriver. Guess what, there is an adjustment in the back of the reproduction gauge!

I got all the electrical hooked up and the tank sending unit extracted from the gas tank. I got the gauge adjusted really close when empty (about 1/8 showing) So now when I get to 1/4 of a tank I know I better fuel up. I hope you can see the adjustment slot in the attached picture.

I just re- did my mine a few weeks ago- new sending unit, wire, really made sure the ground was good and now it seems reliable. Maybe it was from so long of not being "sure" but I still keep the old yard stick behind the seat most of the time and I never push it.  At about a quarter tank left on the gauge I am looking for fuel, just in case.  One of my next projects is to mount a gas can.  Sometimes you just cant find or get to a station with real gas around here and while I am sure it wont kill my jeep- I just don't want ethanol mix in it.
