Headlight life expectancy

When I got my '51 3A most of the wiring was rotted away and I replaced it all with a new stuff. To my amazement, when I plugged in the headlights they lit right up. Both high and low beam!

The bulbs are stamped April 9, 1951. Seems unlikely many of them would have survived this long. Heck, I managed to break one in my M38 within the first couple months of ownership.� Anyone else still running with their original bulbs??

That is cool....I think finding things like that is the best...the last person to touch those was likely a factory employee...it's incredible that they still work....

I managed to destroy both mine, but they were replacements....old, but still replacements...

That is very cool.  I haven't found any originals.

My usage of my Willys is generally during the day.  I have had to use the lights on occasion, but it's rare.  I suspect we are all mostly day drivers with these things.  Those lamps could reach 100 years!

That is pretty neat, almost makes you think you might want to shelf them and put in new ones to preserve them.
