Front Bumper

Hi everyone. As you may or may not know my frame is bent and and I have been slowly getting her straight with lots of head scratching and a 10 ton porter power ram. The front bumper needs to come off, and because it was so heavily welded in the past, I am going to have to cut it off as many of the welds are beyond the reach of any cutting equipment.
In the UK parts for wartime jeeps are plentiful but not for CJ3A's so getting a correct front bumper is unlikely to happen.
I could order one from the US but would end up paying more in taxes than it cost to buy.
Question.
Are the basic dimensions of the front bumper on the wartime jeeps the same as the CJ3A's ?
If they are I can cut any holes as required.

I do not have dimensions to give you.  But years ago on my first Jeep, a '47 CJ2a, the front bumper was really bent.  I replaced it with a piece of channel iron.  It was heavier than the stock bumper iron, but once painted and on the Jeep no one knew it was not original.

If you have access to "war time" jeep parts you might look at the M38 for a donor.  The M38 was pretty much a militarized CJ3A, frame dimensions should be pretty close.

Hi , thanks for the reply. I managed to get a wartime one which is the same size except that it is only 1 1/2" deep rather than the 2" of the original. Only someone with a good knowledge of jeeps would notice the difference and apart from that it looks fine. It is the straightest part of the frame at the moment !! but I am getting there.
