Aluminium Master Brake Cylinder rebuild
« on: February 23, 2016, 05:18:29 PM »
Hey guys/gals. I decided to rebuild my master brake cylinder.I also recycled, not doing enough research to find out that some can with aluminium bodied cylinders.

Now my question is has anyone had any luck with rebuilding on of these? I managed to find a rebuild kit locally. The parts are mostly the same. Thou mine has 3 extra pieces installed it an rubber washer a white hard plastic piece before the piston and an extra rubber wash seat behind the spring and the parts list diagram doesn't not show that as a part of it. The bottom picture is what he cylinder had in it and what the rebuild kit has.

Does anyone know were I can get a new gasket? Will a cast iron cylinder cap work with this type(mine the bolt is pretty stripped)?

I have one like that. I made the top gasket...

I sent the body off to be sleeved at Apple Hydraulics..but you could sure try to rebuild it as is if it's not too pitted.....

My cap was different....I was able to find a new one online...

I bought the cap from:

Brake Products Inc
PO Box 23547
Chagrin Falls, Ohio, 44023..

They may have other parts....
