Fixing a problem with my door

Since I unknowingly bought a 2a door frame and fitted to my jeep incorrectly and had the skins sewn before this came to light I had to figure out how to make them work. Hopefully this will at least help if someone isn't sure they have the right frames or if you have no choice then a fix. I carefully cut the upper hinge pin off with a dremel tool and used a hose clamp to fit it to the frame. It stayed very tight but did allow me to set the position to install and adjust angle and height on frame





It is actually not hard to install if you just unsnap the first 2 connections and the top lifts back to drop into the socket.

My main concern was how to re bend the angle of the lower frame as what was to me the correct sides were wrong given the tab to stop the latches is supposed to be on the inside. I was about 8" too far away at back of door off of tub. I had to re bend with out tearing or ripping any stitching because of the loooooong time to get my top.



This is a template I made for lower frame that had to be re bent. I cut 2x4 to match the angle of the section I had to change and put hinge to keep a good line and allow for the bend to be done at the correct point. The door is in there wrapped in drop cloth



This was the top board I put on the straight piece of lower frame that did not have to move and I had to keep it flat

Here was end result. I used my work van as it is a E 350 and pretty heavy loaded with material plus that is a big rear step. I clamped a 2x6 to bottom and used 2 bottle jacks. The left one is right where i needed the bend to start and the right one was to keep top corner flat or else it would just roll up when I lifted the lever which was 8' 2x4.  I must say it was easier than I thought it would be and it could not have been any more accurate in a good shop



That is a good fit right along the tub



I had a small bow in the top piece but I just marked the spot and used little jack and a short block to flatten it out so it follows upper section of top

Last item was to reweld the upper pin with out burning any of the canvas or window.



I draped that thing like open heart surgery and made sure i had a wet rag hanging and a bucket of water just in case. Once I got a good tack on the top of the pin and 1 inside above clamp I took it off and welded it in



Cleaned it up and painted it so maybe it's not correct but it works. Drivers side next and fit the latches

Here it is fitted with piece in track and latches on. Need to make strike plate but it appears to close up well
