M38 wood hood blocks and side view mirror
« on: February 19, 2017, 04:52:36 PM »
Anyone have any idea where the wooden blocks are placed on the hood? how far from end of hood and left and right of center?
I have an MDJ hood and body kit with no holes. Same for side view mirror mounting holes.

I can offer where the holes are drilled for the hood blocks on an original hood.

- From center seam out: 13" to center of the hole.
- From front edge to first hole:  2-3/16" to center of hole.
- Spacing between holes:  2-5/8" center to center.

Early 3A block spacing matches the offset block spacing on the 2A.

10-1/4" from center seam on the passenger side.
13" from center seam on the driver side.

I can probably help with the side view mirror too, but a little later.

I just changed my side view mirror and I have a measurement of 1 1/8" to center of the top right bolt from the seam of the cowl above where the pieces are joined on the tub and from the bolt holding the channel where the door curtain slides into it is 1 1/2" from the center of that bolt to the center of the top right bolt of the mirror bracket. There also is a piece welded inside the tub that is a backer to add stiffness so the metal is not fatigued with mirror moving around. If you need I can post pic's
