What kind of paint did willys use on the cj3 and can I stay k2 primer over it?

Hi Al,
I believe the original paint was an average oil based enamel.  If the old base is cleaned and abraded real well, you should have decent success with any of the 2K primer systems.

In addition to what Hawk said, I would recommend a really good epoxy primer as the first layer.  With these old paints, there really is no telling what is underneath and a quality epoxy will help seal it in so the new paint layers do not have issues.
