Factory Primer Puddle?
« on: May 03, 2015, 11:22:16 PM »
I have been doing a little work on the fenders of "Hoover" . . . my '51 CJ3A project.

I noticed an interesting condition on both fenders. While sand-blasting with a small handheld blaster, and hitting what appeared to be flaking paint in the corner of fender bracket, I came across what appeared to be very think primer.

Is it possible that the factory dipped the fenders in primer, the rear of fender facing up, and the result was a puddle in this location?

Both of Hoover's fenders have this. If the primer "chunks" are removed, there is bare metal under them.

FYI, the order of coatings on this '3A in every instance is -> 1) red primer, 2) tan, 3) forest green, 4) white.

Anyone else ever see this?
