Go back late at night and you are liable to meet the owners, or at least the residents.....

Is that a face I see in the upstairs window?

I'm surprised you only saw one snake....but I'm sure they all saw or felt you...

Get more pictures when you get it home!!!

So roughly two hours ago I'm home sitting around the camp fire with a couple friends enjoying a beverage when the Willys hot line rings. A few texts and calls later and this is happening - an M38A1 being delivered to my yard. I backed my M38 just far enough out of the garage to assist with the unloading. When I pulled forward I was right back in the garage again and the A1 was in the driveway. Pretty slick.

Yes, I know this is a stretch as it has round fenders but for the price and free delivery(!!) I couldn't pass up the opportunity to acquire a vintage Jeep without leaving my lawn chair.

I'll dig in a little further once the sun comes up.

Is it a 5 or an A1? That's how little I know about either.....

Edit: Yup, CJ-5. See what happens when you pick up a Jeep in the dark after a couple beers? You go to sleep next to a nice M38A1 and wake up next to a haggard CJ-5. Be careful out there boys  ;D

Don't matter if it's free.
Pull the drive train and scrap the tub.

If you've been living right, it'll have a 4-speed in it.
That's worth more than a whole Jeep.

It's been a pretty productive week so far. I've ramped up efforts in seeking out these old gems and my work is paying off. I went on the offensive a few days ago and scouted a spot through local legend and Google Earth that I thought might hold some hidden secrets.

A visit with a highly eccentric yet very personable owner today resulted in a tour of his private salvage yard. It's not open to the public but more or less just a personal collection of junk amassed over a few generations. It was outstanding.

I must have passed over 6 or 8 Willys Wagons, a Commando, and an FC until - lo and behold - I spied the decrepit remains of a GPW. It's pretty much a solid piece of rust but it's "F" marked rust nonetheless. We quickly agreed on a price it was mine.

You just can't make this stuff up....

I'm pretty sure I'm in violation of some town ordinance at this point...

Ryan your not thinking clearly anymore!
 Buy the house!
You need the land, the gold goes with it and your gift of gab you could be moving snow next winter in a  shinny yellow Case loader.

PS... On the C5, get rid of the roll bar and the rest look in good shape.
We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out... WC

And the madness continues. Just brought home a load of early 2A parts. There was also a complete rolling chassis but I left it behind simply because I did not want to deal with it. I took all the eBay gold though.  :D

I went and checked out another one earlier this week. 2A/3A/M38 trainwreck. Frame is cut, tub is total garbage, windshield is cracked, gas tank is missing, oil is sludge, brakes are frozen and it doesn't run (although it did turn over when I jumped it briefly from my M38 directly to the starter).

Complete junk...except for this - an MB motor(!).

Seller inherited this so doesn't know much about Jeeps but has huge emotional attachment. At this point we are miles apart on price but this was a difficult one to walk away from. I want that motor!!

Unearthed another one today! A deal was struck and I will be dragging home a very rough '46 2A this weekend. Stuck motor, rotted everything...should fit perfectly in what my yard has become over the past 10 days.

Funny Guy! Was there ever a PTO chipper shredder option for a Willys? At the rate I'm going it would come in handy. ;D
