On our second trail ride Mac wasn't able to join us. So, Carl and I took our wives and headed out.

Even though it was a hot day, we decided to go out into the desert area. We just put on our white long-sleeved shirts and shade hats. We probably should have gone back into the mountains you can see in the distance.

I thought that I'd get a different shot of following Carl by using my fender-cam and include a spinning tire. Didn't work.

Getting off the beaten path.

Here Lucille is standing by a native Bonsai Juniper tree. This happens quite often where blowing sand accumulates in certain rock surfaces leaving very little soil to grow in. The tree has the same characteristics of the full-sized versions nearby, just miniature in size. A young Juniper tree is very different looking.

Blowing sand also make the going a little tougher, too.

It's fun to have Carl take the lead.

Then we switched leaders and I fell into a trap. As I tried to cross a sandy wash my right front tire followed the drainage instead of the road. I was pulled into the wash leaving my right front and left rear tires in the air. That's when I was glad I had talked Carl into buying a winch.

I think we've got a plan.

Looks like it's working. That winch saved a lot of digging.

Carl enters the same spot while paying a little better attention.

Heading home again.
