Sunny afternoon
« on: February 10, 2013, 04:35:02 PM »
A new and substantial helping of snow followed by a fairly mild and very sunny day = afternoon spent bombing around in the Jeep.

It was actually pressed into real service too as I worked to unthaw a frozen camp down road from me. Usually when I forget a tool or need additional supplies it's a drag. Today it meant another round trip back to my house, which was a welcomed event each time. Here's a few pics, goofy hood and all:

The third picture is what my '49 looked like AFTER I plowed through a snowbank that was as tall as the hood at 30MPH! It was pretty cool how the snow exploded, but then I got stuck because I stalled it.  :-/

Hello Ryan M

She (does she have a name?) looks absolutely lovely standing in the snow.

What do you mean by goofy hood?...the gap between the fender and hood perhaps, just curious.

No name yet. My wife calls her "Mir Noi" which, in Thai, means one's mistress. I guess that's a pretty fair assessment.  ;D

And yes, I was babbling on another thread earlier this week about the hood not fitting properly. At least the engine is well vented.

Is that Potomac Gray or another gray?  If it is the Potomac can you tell me where you found it.  By the way it looks great and I hope mine looks that good some day.

Ryan,
That's really a great-looking Jeep.  Great pics, too.  Thanks for sharing.

The hood looks better and better each time I see it.  Great pics.

By the way, to other forum members:  I've had the privilege of driving Ryan's Jeep, and it drives as good as it looks.  And this was before he fixed the brakes.   :)

Pat

The paint was an attempt at the original Potomac Gray. I'm not sure it's 100% accurate as I have never seen another unmolested Potomac Gray Jeep in the flesh but it has to be pretty close. I do have a bit of the original paint visible on the under side of the tool box lid and it's virtually identical to the new stuff. I gave the paint chip color sample cards I found online to my body guy and this is what he came up with. It ended up with a more yellow-ish hue than I expected but I think it's fairly correct. Regardless, the paint is dry and there's no changing it now.

Thanks for the paint info.  It sure looks close to the color up under the dash of mine.

Ha!  You haven't seen my garage lately!  Besides, being jeepless and watching all you guys is much more cost-effective.   ;)
