Mahindra Jeep made in USA - looks like a cj5

Just ran into this in the Detroit Free Press, Mahindra is making Jeeps similar to the CJ5 in Auburn Hills MI.  Looks pretty cool !
Climbs trees, hides in the long grass, hangs out with wet dogs...

It's a side by side UTV.
Old fashioned service never goes out of style.

Mahindra has been building Willys cjs under license since shortly after WW2, its is basically a updated Indian built cj5, it is being sold as a side by side Ute in the states because it cant pass modern safety standards, no airbags, crumple zones etc.

Well that's interesting.
It's pretty much a CJ5 in size and drivetrain.
Diesel 4 cylinder about the same power as a CJ.
No windshield.
$16,000 to $18,000.
Could be easily modified to look and act like a real CJ5 just need a real Jeep grille.
It would be actually safer on the road than a real one. Power steering, disc brakes, etc.
1946 2A - - - 1949 me - older than most of my Jeeps
1954 3B - - - 1957 Wagon - - - 2010 4-door JK
past Jeeps ---> '54 3B - no tub --- '59 3B - no engine
past addiction - VW ---> '69 bus --- '70 camper

Really kind of appealing, a "new" CJ 5 with modern upgrades for under 20K... Makes you think a bit.
Climbs trees, hides in the long grass, hangs out with wet dogs...
