Camp Chuk a Luck

I know weather has been brutal for most of you folks, but was turkey hunting/camping last weekend 21st thru 24th. No birds bagged but great camping weather. My son and I went to my sisters and brother in laws farm in North Florida near Monticello. 640 acres and it was in low 50's at night and only had 1 little rain shower. Got to try my newer set up for netting and used cook box and pantry that I have posted on earlier. All went well and good times. Pic's in a bit.Hmm didn't think pick would post, that was all we used for a stove and it was skillet or used a cast iron grill for chicken and steak and other side for pancake. The other pan was for heating water for coffee and washing dishes. Made a cup of rice one night with a little cook pot but simple quick easy good camping and eating.

Quick set up less than an hour to make and break camp. I got a 16x16 Swedish military net and also used an 8x8 Swedish net that was my previous top cover. The side net is a 8x16 commercial net. They work great although with bigger top I need another center pole to deal with some sagging. The tent is a 10x10 Kodiak Canvas brand it is is great to have. 10 minute set up, good head room plenty of ventilation and with cots just a great sleeping tent. Took a little more than usual as I was testing a couple things out and only problem with that time of year up there is weather can be fickle so hunting clothes have to be ready for a wide range of temps and you end up taking too many. Had a good time even with doing some electrical work for my sister at their house but small price to pay for that kind of country.Went in a ford Ranger so that was nice test for using it with my jeep and trailer some day.

Great set-up you have there. Looks like a lot of fun. I used to camp a fair amount in and around Big Cypress but never up in the northern part of the state.

I am insanely jealous as I stand here with 2' of hard crusty snow on the ground and 13 degrees on this morning's thermometer. I fell down on the ice wrestling with the snow plow AGAIN this morning. 'Tis getting old.

Geez boy, you makin' me hungry and I just finished supper. I used to do a lot of camping. Still have some of my gear.
