Spring! Really?
« on: March 22, 2014, 07:26:20 PM »
Look like Mother Nature forgot that Spring is starting on March 21!

My Jeep looked outside and decided to stay in.
4 feet of snow, 4 more week of winter....

Still a long way to go;

Where is my snowplow?  8-)

That is indeed a nice snowpack. We are still looking at a couple of feet at the house but you don't have to go too far up the mountain to find what you have. I don't expect the snow to melt here until well into Arril and sometimes early May so it isn't a surprise and this year all areas around us have higher than normal snow depths. It may be awhile before we get back into the mountains for some wheeling.

That stuff gets a little hard to plow when it gets that deep-no place to put it. Blower time.

Last week at our place:

Yeah, leave the Jeep parked. I don't think it will drive on top of four feet of snow or through four feet of snow. But then, I haven't tried to do that so who knows.

I have an idea! I would like everyone to post pictures of their area. We will be able to compare it next year. Doesnt need to include a jeep but...

If you have about 10" tires and air them down really well-5 psi, you can usually get on snowmobile trails and just go if the snowpack is cold.  If it warms up above freezing while you are still on the trail, you can have a major problem.

I used to do that in the late 60's and 70's but there weren't all the travel restrictions we have now.  I was a good 20 miles from the road on one of those adventures.

Went out to leave for work this morning about 6:30 and the ground was white. Just enough to cover everything and make things look clean. Didn't take pic.
This winter's 6 feet of snow has just, finally melted away and now one last remark from winter, "And another thing . . ."

We've got one more run from Iowa in store at the end of the week. So far every single run we did from Iowa to TX involved an overnight snowstorm...Sounds like we may still have one more snow.

I am so glad I don't live in upstate NY anymore...this winter would have driven me totally insane. I'm spoiled living in Texas, as there is already bright green winter wheat in some fields down here...

My '53 is due for inspection next month and I don't think that is gonna happen. Mud season hasn't come to my road yet and that has usually taken place by now!
