The emoticons are not very friendly user here.

You can find the most used below the message box. (the box you write into)
You just need to click on it. :o

For more sophisticated emoticons, you need to choose them in the "More Smilies" box on the left of the message box.

Here is my two favorites;

Yep! It does write the code of the emoticons instead of showing it while you typing it.

If you want to see your message before to post it, there is a little "+Live Preview", just hit it and a new box will appear above the current message box showing how your message will be shown.
