Belgian army jeeps

Hi fellows!

I dont know how, but yesterday I came across this interesting website, regarding the "Compagnie ATK, rgiment Para Comando belge". This unit, formed after WW2, employed several Willys jeep CJ3A with ENTAC missiles, i.e., until the introduction of the Land Rover "Minerva". Enjoy the pics!

As many of you probably know, several NATO countries and others received CJ jeeps as army surplus after WW2, in order to modernize their respective armed forces. Many of them throught the MDAP agreements.

 Cheers and keepem rolling!

Thanks, Carl!

I have just found this other link with several pics of the same Willys CJ3A jeep (I think) during the war at Katanga, or the independance war of Belgian Congo, known for years as Zaire, and now as Democratic Republic of Congo:

Probably well found some more interesting pics at the links which appear at right, with the name of "Menu".

Cheers,

Wow, thanks for posting that Roberto!  I didn't realize they were still running Willys Jeeps back then.

FYI, Years ago back in school, I did a paper on the Belgian raid on Stanleyville in Operation Dragon Rouge, which used our A/Cs.  It set the precedence for Spec Ops Airfield seizures and a template we followed for Panama, Grenada, Afgan (Operation Rhino).  It really was a magnificent operation.
